

ProCirCon - Developing professional competencies for circular construction
The results of ‘ProCirCon’ are an innovative learning model for circular construction for use in training, strategies of vocational training institutions for institutionalisation and recommendations for action for regulatory policy - as a contribution to strengthening innovation, quality, labour market relevance and sustainability of vocational training.
The new vocational competences relating to the environment and sustainability promote a change of perspective and the commitment of young skilled workers to the green transition.
1. Catalogue - ‘Body of Knowledge’ of the selected professions and newly defined content for the creation of teaching and learning materials in the subject area: Ecologisation of the built environment & ‘grey energy’ for building materials and processes with evaluation of sustainability in production, use/reuse on the construction site and disposal (influence on environment/climate, recyclability etc.) for use in vocational training with two action scenarios:
- ‘Circular economy & construction site’ action scenario and
- ‘Disposal’ action scenario
2. Learning model ‘Circular economy in the construction industry’: learning units
and learning material for construction professions on sustainability
The model consists of:
- Action-orientated learning units, teaching and learning materials for training in construction professions
- Further training course ‘Circular construction skills in vocational education and training’ for teachers and trainers in construction professions on practice-oriented work with heterogeneous groups, the design of participatory learning environments, peer learning, etc.
The course contains modules that are grouped thematically and cover a variety of tasks and activities. They can be used independently of each other.
3. Recommendations for action for educational institutions and political decision-
makers ‘Circular economy in construction’
They include lessons learnt for the system level, regulatory policy and action plans for institutional anchoring at VET institutions, including the design of cooperation with business and science.
